Our pictures return to Portugal. This series of photos is of Chaves, a town in the North of Portugal, not far off the Spanish border.
The castle tower, showing the flag of Portugal.
A mini-watch tower? The guard watches the wall and sounds the alarm if someone storms the wall.
I hope the military knows where all these cannons are. After the internet crashes and the world reverts to savagery, the country with the most cannons is going to win the upcoming game of risk.
The Chaves castle has a modest military museum inside. This mini-cannon was inside. Most objects dated from the 18th century.
A straightshot through the cross shaped arrow-slit into the circular tower.
