Whole Lotta Canyon Country: The Park

Views of, through and beyond Canyon Country Park.

Canyon Country Park upper plaza.

This is why those romantic notions of Costco.

Old wood fence shadow and fence.

Lost Canyon & Soledad intersection.

Drinking fountain, circa when the Santa Clarita valley was first settled by Europeans.

Canyon Country: Views and Things

Some photos, some pretty, some reflecting on less than happy events.

Dramatic mountain views.  But its not for sale.  A view from the backyard.

The new fence to replace the fence the drunk driver knocked over on Canvas.

View of the school.

Two theories:  (i) Santa Claus wanted a bigger entrance.  (ii) Firefighters knocked a hole in the roof to let out the heat.  Notice that you can see through the backside of the roof.  This is commonly known as "not good".  And its been a very rainy season this year.

Athenian Views

Some more views of Athens.  Some or most of these could well have gone in previous posts.  This is my ultimate Athenian post however.  The Omega post if you will.

Athens definitely suffers from urban sprawl.  A rather uniform grey lapping up and around the hills.

And this is then a closeup of the urbanization.

A spot of color, orange and red window shades.

The Stoa of Attalos, restored.

Views from the Acropolis

Sweeping panoramas and intimate vistas from the top of the Acropolis.  As always, I tried to get the names right, and my apologies if I've named something incorrectly.

Herod Atticus Theatre.  Still in use, though they seem to be putting on Italian opera.  Seat cushions are visible in my other shots of this venue.

St. George chapel on top of the Lycobettus hill.  Hills in Athens are primarily used for TV, radio and cell phone towers it seems.

The city surrounds the Acropolis in all directions.  The pall in the distance is from an oncoming thunder storm that never really arrived.

Theatre of Dionysus.

One of many Byzantine (I presume) churchs around Athens.

Thesseion or Temple of Hephaestus I believe.

Agii Apostoli, Byzantine church.

I believe this is a view of the (a) observatory with the byzantine church of three photos ago on its right.

I believe that says Piraeus Bank on the fancy reflective building.  With Athens sprawling beyond.

More ruins.

View of the side of the Acropolis with Athens in the distance.

A rock that many people climbed upon to garner a view of Athens.

A view from the other side.

A more distant shot of St. George on Lycobettus hill.

Hills of Houses

Pictures showing how Lisbon is built on its hills.

Each house painted its own color: yellow, pink, blue plus red bricks and red and black roofs.

This is a slight angle change from the previous picture, showing how they drape a huge building with covering as they rebuild it.

And this is looking up at these houses as a bird flies overhead.  All those antennas.

One of many stairwells to bring pedestrians to the next level.  And you can see a couple levels above that in turn.
