Ground Textures at Towsley Canyon

I took a jaunt to Towsley Canyon.  Or was it Ed Davis Park?  Or both.  The lamountains.com web page on this park says Ed Davis championed the park.  My memory was they named the park after him to win his needed vote over, and that he wasn't a big fan of this sort of thing.

Textures at Towsley.  It's fun what you can see if you look down at the ground and really look.  Besides your shoes of course.

Mud with tire tracks.  Time to get out those tire track molds for your CSI experience.

Anthills.  This particular spot featured many incipient ant colonies.

One determined gopher hole.

Beetlemania!

Chatsworth Lake Manor

Lake manor is named due to the all manner of lakes living there.

Signage.  I particularly like the hydrant sign.  But I didn't see the little bugger, so he musta been hiding on me.

Quite a number of residents have established art gardens, made of found objects.

The vista behind the garden.

Mr. Scarecrow.  For scaring off DEA agents perhaps?

Definitely not Simba.  Bob Marley is my guess.

Glowing red eyes, wings, and smoke (not shown) coming out of the mouth.

The road to erehwon is paved with cell phone tower devices.

Another garden of found objects.  This one emphasizing vehicles.

That's John, Dear, driving.

The Trees of Valencia: College of the Canyons Edition

Love them there trees.  Alive, dead, half dead, budding, chopped down, completely chopped down.

Oak and At'em!

Base tree.

Sideways tree.  Yes, I used to complain about blogger rotating my pictures.  I think it was just trying to tell me something.  I actually prefer the composition of this one on its side.  To repeat: I did this on purpose.

Tree at a slight angle.  No doubt due to the heavy winds that blow through consistently.

A dead cow skull bleaching in the ground.

Mr. Gorbachev, chop this tree down.

College of the Canyons Views and Things

Some more industrial side buildings around College of the Canyons (COC).

Two fountains, two doors, two bathrooms and one trash can.  Its not every day you get to enjoy this view!

A second photo of the dark underbelly of the stadium.  Stairs up.  (and down too!)

Pick me, no me, pick me pick me!

After the Valencia fisherman return to the docks at night, the nets are dumped here to prepare for the return journey again the next morning.  And the cycle of life and death continues.

A random wooden bench out by the baseball field.

Mop up!  (Who could resist?)

UCLA Buildings, Early Morning II

Some buildings and some shots of the newly rebuilt bombshelter.

This is one wing of Powell library.  Great balcony, I'm sure it gets lots of use.

And this is the other wing of Powell library.  No balcony, so sad.

A door to Moore.

The California Nano Systems building, view from the new bombshelter.

Seating area, new bombshelter, view from above.

Small Images: Set Pieces from Around UCLA

Some items I noticed on my last walk.

Love those vines in the early morn light.  Not the kind Tarzan could swing on though.

Lightpost.  Originally from the Lion, the Witch and the Website.  Just outside the closet, in the snow.

26 stars on the tiddly wink.  14 around the rim.  Why 14?  And why this pattern?

Water on the park bench.  Dew? Or sprinkler remnant?

Air conditioner on the biology building.  Will these go away as they refurbish the building and install 20th century temperature controls?

The reflecting pond.

A friendly door.

UCLA Signs

Some signs around UCLA.

Is that a parking bumper in front?  For where the Chancellor parks his Humvee as he drives around campus?

Fill in the blank.  I'm guessing "4"!
Or perhaps the right answer is "brick"!

Instruction manuals are needed because people think the solid red palm means there's a fortune teller nearby.
