Chatsworth Lake Manor

Lake manor is named due to the all manner of lakes living there.

Signage.  I particularly like the hydrant sign.  But I didn't see the little bugger, so he musta been hiding on me.

Quite a number of residents have established art gardens, made of found objects.

The vista behind the garden.

Mr. Scarecrow.  For scaring off DEA agents perhaps?

Definitely not Simba.  Bob Marley is my guess.

Glowing red eyes, wings, and smoke (not shown) coming out of the mouth.

The road to erehwon is paved with cell phone tower devices.

Another garden of found objects.  This one emphasizing vehicles.

That's John, Dear, driving.

Miami Odds and Beach Ends

Humorous and odd found objects from Miami Beach.

Odd things grow in the Miami heat.  Here is an example.  These plants always grew in pairs, usually up threw the sidewalk and there were several growing in the neighborhood of the convention center.  Very disturbing, as if I were watching a remake of a bad horror flick.

Clear evidence that Santa's sleigh makes it to Miami Beach.

Visiting a friend's view hotel room at Loews and this was the only picture that turned out.  I could barely open my eyes on the balcony because the glare from this white roof was blinding.  The view of the Miami skyline was dazzling as well, but failed to impress the camera.

Most mannikins in store windows were wearing very few clothes, however, I had assumed that the purpose of the mannikins was to sell the clothes, and not the mannikins.

Random stuff on the side of a hotel.  Perhaps an industrial kitchen vent?

And the same hotel has a handicapped piece of sidewalk for visitors.

This table and chair combination managed to sit one whole person.  Rather awkward tho cute seating arrangements.  Not sure what they do when the shriners visit instead of us statisticians.

Incubator for Cylons.

The heat is so strong it bakes frond imprints into the ground.

Its a Sign: Found Objects Around Lisbon

Some more signs, these from around Lisbon but also some found objects.

The night club for the rest of us.  Are you a wild animal?  Large and water loving?

I saw this in the ground, and wondered what the heck it was.  Talk about found objects.  Looks like a bunch of bottle caps of various sizes lying there.

Then we continued along the sidewalk and this was immediately next door.  Smallest gas station I've ever seen.  Makes sense though, there were a lot of new car dealers in the area, and I imagine they must need occasional service.  There was no attendant as we walked along.

Another recycling container.  Looks like a crane swings by overhead and lifts it out for recycling it itself.

These two were in the basement food court of Campo Pequeno, the bullfight ring.  Mr. Pig here (They call me mister pig!)  Does have a real picture of a piglet on a spit about to go into the oven.  Not something Americans would all that comfortable with seeing I think.  And we'd probably call it misterpork, not misterpig.

And yes, its a burger king.  This was not the only burger place in the food court.  There was a modern burger joint off screen to the right called H3.

Yes Lisbon, we have a Lamborghini dealer.  However, it was closed.  Along Avenida Republica, I believe.

Cute little go cars for rent around Lisbon.  Three wheeled, and very low to the ground, room for two.  And a cute tent in the background.  I believe this was at Praca do Duque de Saldanha.

A metal dragonfly sculpture hanging over the entrance to a building.  You suppose it can fly?  I think it has a caterpillar dropping out of its mouth.

Lisbon: Found Objects

More found objects around Lisbon.

Part of a tryptich, the third sign on the right, off picture had an arrow.  Presumably where you could park your bike, or perhaps bring it on the train or boat or metro, as this is a major bus/boat/train/metro terminus.

One of the trams, swinging left prior to taking a sharp right turn.  I strongly recommend taking a tram once, and also take one or two of the elevadors, essentially trams on rails that drag you up some of the steep hillsides.

Statue of one of Lisbon's famous writers and a water plug on the right. This square is outside the Teatro Sao Carlos.

An overview of the square outside Teatro Sao Carlos.  Statue and fireplug is visible in the background.  But the picture is about the tables and their shadows on the square.

Handrail descending into the depths.

Statue of Fernando Pessoa.  She's sitting on his lap, but there is a chair for visitors next to Fernando.  This is outside A Brasiliero, which has beautiful walls, definitely worth a look.

Somewhere along the way was a Porsche.  I also saw a Maserati being driven in traffic.  I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to drive either on Lisbon streets.

Shelling Lisboa

Some beach finds at the beach along the Tagus.  Both shells and other items.

These clam shells were very common.  This beach was actively scoured for clams (or mussels or whatever, sorry not my area) by people both times we visited.  Some appeared to be digging for professional sales, not just for personal consumption.  This shell has been in the water for some time and has been prettified.  The live ones are dark and muddy.

A smattering of sea shells and another clam shell.

The extent of the sea shells on the Portuguese beaches was amazing to someone used to California and Floridian beaches which are all intensely mined out by tourists and have no shells left.

Modern turtle sculpture in wood.

A skull in the sand.  My brother-in-law declared this a wolf, though I don't know why it couldn't be a dog.

Lisbon: Found Objects

Various whimsical objects I ran across in Lisbon.

Light and light fixture on the ceiling

Your world, delivered.

Cheap sci-fi robot?  Snow zapper?  Only its hair dresser knows for sure.

Semi-erotic recycling bins.  Actually fairly ubiquitous.

Modern Trafariense playground.

This padre apparently taught my mother-in-law catechism.

This was mounted on someone's house.

Found Objects Along Sand Canyon

Some items I spotted walking along Sand Canyon.  I was the one doing the walking, not the items.

Marlboro cigarettes, blend No 27.  Wonder how the other 26 blends are doing?

A rare chameleon rock.

Nearly full fresh pack.  No weathering visible.  Some poor smoker.

Terraced sandstone perhaps?

And the not so fresh pack with the lighter still in the box.  Somebody sure loses a lot of Marlboros.

I think this was paper weathered to a flat pulp.

Alexander Graham was here.

Cash and Kerns.
